Welcome to episode #15 of The Theology on Homosexuality podcast and the Torch Leadership Foundation Institute’s “Hill, Lutzer, McKissic Lecture Series.”

This Lecture Series is in honor of E.V. Hill, Erwin Lutzer, and Dwight McKissic for standing for God, truth and righteousness down through the years without compromise. My name is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International. This podcast was created primarily to inform the Christian church about why it must stand against homosexuality, homosexual marriage, homosexual parenting, and the homosexual agenda. The biblical portrait of marriage, family and sexuality has sadly come under attack in our society and it is time for the church to stand up and to educate our culture about the dangers of same-sex marriage and the same-sex agenda while at the same time to promote God’s idea of marriage between one man and one woman, God’s view of the family structure, and God’s view of sexuality as being permissible and pleasurable within the safety and sanctity of marriage. The normalization of homosexuality and everything that pertains to it is probably the greatest danger facing our world today. Thus, it is imperative that the body of Christ choose to stop ignoring this prevailing issue and stand up for what God says on this matter before it completely destroys our country. This podcast is designed to equip pastors, church leaders, and Christians everywhere to take a firm stand for God against homosexuality and the homosexual agenda, in the spirit of love, grace and truth, so that we will not be responsible for allowing this nation to implode on our watch.

Our Theology on Homosexuality passage from the Word of God today is Mark 10:6-9. It reads, “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Allow me to share with you some important points regarding this passage from the “Bible Knowledge Commentary” by John F. Walvoord and Roy B. Zuck:

Jesus contrasted the Jews’ view of marriage with God’s view from the beginning of Creation. God made them, the first couple, Adam and Eve, distinctly male and female yet fully complementary to each other. A man shall leave behind his parents, shall be united to his wife, and the two — man and woman — will become one flesh. As “one flesh” they form a new unit comprising a sexually intimate, all-encompassing couple just as indissoluble in God’s present Creation order as a blood relationship between parent and child. So they are no longer two, but one (literally, “one flesh” or a one-flesh unit). Marriage is not a contract of temporary convenience which can be readily broken; it is a covenant of mutual fidelity to a lifelong union made before God.

Our Theology on Homosexuality quotes today are from Dwight McKissic and John MacArthur:

Dwight McKissic said, “Albert Einstein said, ‘The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.’ We must do something, and that something is nothing short of warfare. It’s time for spiritual war. And if the Church of the Living God go down in this war, we will go down standing up!”

John MacArthur said, “There’s only one thing in the whole world that will cure a homosexual, and that’s the Lord Jesus Christ…He’s the only one, you see, who can change the life. He’s the only one who can turn you away from sin to righteousness.”

Our Theology on Homosexuality topic is titled “We Must Consult the Designer’s Manual” part 3 from “The Truth About Same-Sex Marriage: 6 Things You Need to Know About What’s Really at Stake” by Erwin Lutzer. And, I want to remind you to take advantage of our special offer. Dr. Erwin Lutzer goes on to say…

In marriage, a man and a woman are joined by two bonds. The first is a covenant, an agreement that they will live together until “death does them part.” The second is the sexual relationship that forms a spiritual bond that has already been referred to and will be explained in more detail later.

It is true the Bible does not mention the wedding ceremony as we know it. But in Old Testament times the bride and groom did enter into an agreement, even if it was not ratified in the same way as we do today. Even in the case of Isaac and Rebekah, a covenant was made between Abraham (Isaac’s father) and Laban (Rebekah’s father). This agreement was spoken by Abraham’s servant (Genesis 24:48–49). Gifts were given to signify the betrothal.

Even cultures that have no roots in Judeo-Christian teaching have various rituals, but the marriage of a man and a woman is almost universally celebrated as a time of social affirmation. As cultures change, so do the customs accompanying the wedding ceremony. What these rituals affirm is the recognition that a man and a woman should not live together without the benefit of a solemn covenantal agreement.

After the covenantal bond comes the sexual bond that unites two people in a spiritual relationship, body, soul, and spirit. One person who bears the image of God, figuratively speaking, stamps his or her image on the partner who also bears the image of God. When two bodies unite in intimate sexual relationship, two souls are also joined together. Sex forms a “soul tie” with the partner that unites them in a spiritual oneness. To the ancient Jews, sex within marriage was properly considered a holy act. On his wedding night it was said that a man actually went into the Holy of Holies when he made love to his wife.

In his excellent book Sacred Sex, Tim Alan Gardner writes,

Sex was created, inaugurated, and blessed by the source of holiness, God Himself. Before sin entered the world, God gave sex as a divinely unique and extraordinary gift to the original couple to share and enjoy with each other, to celebrate their oneness. Sex is holy as well because it is in sex, in the full unity of both male and female, that the image of God is represented.

This explains why Paul taught that marriage should give a concrete display of the relationship between Christ and the church. Sometimes we get the impression that when Paul wanted an illustration of the relationship between husband and wife, it dawned on him that Christ and the church would be a great parallel. But deeper reflection leads to the conclusion that the very purpose of marriage was to reflect the relationship between Christ and the church.

He says that wives should submit to their husbands, “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church” according to Ephesians 5:23. To those women who believe such submission is victimization, and to husbands who misuse this principle, Paul continues, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word” according to Ephesians 5:25–26. We should not be surprised that Paul ends this section by quoting Genesis, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh” according to Ephesians 5:31.

And so marriage creates two bonds. Sexual intimacy is to be enjoyed under the protection of a covenant of commitment, caring, and unconditional love. Thus two become one flesh.

Now, if you are listening today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, allow me to show you how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now this is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Until next time, my friend, may God bless you and keep you!
