Welcome to episode #16 of The Theology on Homosexuality podcast and the Torch Leadership Foundation Institute’s “Hill, Lutzer, McKissic Lecture Series.” This Lecture Series is in honor of E.V. Hill, Erwin Lutzer, and Dwight McKissic for standing for God, truth and righteousness down through the years without compromise. My name is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International. This podcast was created primarily to inform the Christian church about why it must stand against homosexuality, homosexual marriage, homosexual parenting, and the homosexual agenda. The biblical portrait of marriage, family and sexuality has sadly come under attack in our society and it is time for the church to stand up and to educate our culture about the dangers of same-sex marriage and the same-sex agenda while at the same time to promote God’s idea of marriage between one man and one woman, God’s view of the family structure, and God’s view of sexuality as being permissible and pleasurable within the safety and sanctity of marriage. The normalization of homosexuality and everything that pertains to it is probably the greatest danger facing our world today. Thus, it is imperative that the body of Christ choose to stop ignoring this prevailing issue and stand up for what God says on this matter before it completely destroys our country. This podcast is designed to equip pastors, church leaders, and Christians everywhere to take a firm stand for God against homosexuality and the homosexual agenda, in the spirit of love, grace and truth, so that we will not be responsible for allowing this nation to implode on our watch.

Our Theology on Homosexuality passage from the Word of God today is Jude 1:7. It reads, “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”

Allow me to share with you some important points regarding this passage from the “Bible Knowledge Commentary” by John F. Walvoord and Roy B. Zuck:

Jude’s illustration of Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns serves as a dreadful example of what happens to those who turn from God to follow their own lustful natures. The fate of the unbelievers in those two cities foreshadows the fate of those who deny God’s truth and ignore His warnings. The punishment by fire on the perverse inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah illustrates the eternal fire of hell, which will be experienced by false teachers.

Our Theology on Homosexuality quotes today are from Dwight McKissic and John MacArthur:

Dwight McKissic said, “Our culture and courts are elevating a known risky sexual behavior to the level of a civil right, enshrining it into law, criminalizing dissent, prosecuting non-cooperating business owners with stiff penalties and the threat of being deprived of their businesses, reputations and livelihoods – all for obliterating a view of marriage which Christians and adherents of other major world religions have universally affirmed for thousands of years.”

John MacArthur said, “God destroyed a whole civilization that engaged in this sexual perversion in Genesis 19. God destroyed a civilization that did it in the time of the Babylonian captivity. God destroyed a civilization in Greece that did it; and God destroyed a civilization in Rome that did it; and God will destroy another civilization that does it…They are an example of judgment — what happens when a people go apostate and pursue a wrong relationship outside of God’s design.”

Our Theology on Homosexuality topic is titled “We Must Consult the Designer’s Manual” part 4 from “The Truth About Same-Sex Marriage: 6 Things You Need to Know About What’s Really at Stake” by Erwin Lutzer. And, I want to remind you to take advantage of our special offer. Dr. Erwin Lutzer goes on to say…

Some Bible scholars teach that since sex bonds two people together, couples who have shared a bed are already married. According to this view, premarital sex does not exist, for sex equals marriage. This teaching has caused young people to get married, even to partners they neither loved nor respected. Their reasoning is clear: If they are already married in the sight of God, they should complete the union by having a formal wedding ceremony.

However, sexual intercourse in and of itself does not constitute marriage. A man and woman are made husband and wife by a covenant taken in the presence of God and witnesses. The Lord rebuked Israelite men for mistreating their wives and said to each one, “She is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant” (Malachi 2:14). The covenant justifies the sexual relationship; the sexual relationship does not justify the covenant.

Today millions of couples are cohabiting without the benefit of a marriage covenant. In most instances this arrangement serves as a back door of escape, just in case the relationship does not work out. But this arrangement communicates a confusing dual message. On the one hand the partners are saying to each other, “I love you so much I want to be sexually intimate with you.” On the other hand the second message is, “I don’t want to get too close to you, so that I have the option of escaping in case you don’t meet all of my needs.”

According to P. Roger Hillerstrom, “The result of this double message is an inbred lack of confidence in the relationship.” Understandably, these seeds of doubt bear bitter fruit later on.

Some ask, “What difference does a piece of paper make?” We answer with another question: “Would you buy a house without signing such a ‘piece of paper’?” Of course not. One reason for signing a piece of paper is to prevent one of the parties from backing out when a better deal comes along. To carry the analogy one step further: After the papers are signed, you have the right to move into the new premises and enjoy them. After the marriage covenant has been made, the couple has the right to enjoy one another in the sexual relationship.

God intended that the first sexual experience be enjoyed by a man and a woman who are wholly committed to each other with the protection of a covenant. That was to assure the acceptance and unconditional love that must guard the most intimate of all human relationships.

Once that bond has been established, it must be nurtured and strengthened with trust and respect. When the commitment is threatened, the sexual fulfillment (at least on the part of one partner, if not both) is diminished. The danger is that sex is reduced to an erotic biological experience divorced from its spiritual meaning.

Most of us were raised with necessary warnings about illicit sexual expression. But if this is all that we know about what God says on the subject, we will live with a sense of shame, or at least embarrassment. The prohibitions of Scripture—such as, “Thou shalt not commit adultery”—are only one side of the coin; we also must understand God’s intention in giving us these desires. We must strive to handle our sexuality in such a way that these desires will fulfill us and not destroy us.

Though the sex drive is powerful, no person need think that sex is necessary for either happiness or fulfillment. Many who are single testify to the contentment of their lifestyle. Others who are married may not be able to have sex because of physical disabilities or other mitigating factors. It is not necessary to have sexual intercourse in order to accept our sexuality.

Now, if you are listening today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, allow me to show you how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now this is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Until next time, my friend, may God bless you and keep you!
