Welcome to episode #18 of The Theology on Homosexuality podcast and the Torch Leadership Foundation Institute’s “Hill, Lutzer, McKissic Lecture Series.” This Lecture Series is in honor of E.V. Hill, Erwin Lutzer, and Dwight McKissic for standing for God, truth and righteousness down through the years without compromise. My name is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International. This podcast was created primarily to inform the Christian church about why it must stand against homosexuality, homosexual marriage, homosexual parenting, and the homosexual agenda. The biblical portrait of marriage, family and sexuality has sadly come under attack in our society and it is time for the church to stand up and to educate our culture about the dangers of same-sex marriage and the same-sex agenda while at the same time to promote God’s idea of marriage between one man and one woman, God’s view of the family structure, and God’s view of sexuality as being permissible and pleasurable within the safety and sanctity of marriage. The normalization of homosexuality and everything that pertains to it is probably the greatest danger facing our world today. Thus, it is imperative that the body of Christ choose to stop ignoring this prevailing issue and stand up for what God says on this matter before it completely destroys our country. This podcast is designed to equip pastors, church leaders, and Christians everywhere to take a firm stand for God against homosexuality and the homosexual agenda, in the spirit of love, grace and truth, so that we will not be responsible for allowing this nation to implode on our watch.

Our Theology on Homosexuality passage from the Word of God today is Mark 10:6-9. It reads, “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Allow me to share with you some important points regarding this passage from the “Bible Knowledge Commentary” by John F. Walvoord and Roy B. Zuck:

Jesus contrasts the disciples’ view of marriage with God’s view from the beginning of Creation (Jesus quoted both Gen. 1:27 and 2:24). God made them, the first couple, Adam and Eve, distinctly male and female yet fully complementary to each other. A man shall leave behind his parents, shall be united to his wife, and the two — man and woman — will become one flesh. As “one flesh” they form a new unit comprising a sexually intimate, all-encompassing couple just as indissoluble in God’s present Creation order as a blood relationship between parent and child.
So they are no longer two, but one. Marriage is not a contract of temporary convenience which can be readily broken; it is a covenant of mutual fidelity to a lifelong union made before God.

Jesus then added a prohibition. Therefore, in light of verses 6-8, what God has joined together as one flesh, let man not separate. “Man” (probably meaning the husband) is to stop disrupting marriage through divorce. Marriage is to be a monogamous, heterosexual, permanent one-flesh relationship. Jesus indirectly confirmed John the Baptist’s courageous pronouncement, contradicting the Pharisees’ lax views.

Our Theology on Homosexuality quotes for today are from pastor Dwight McKissic and Francis Schaeffer:

Pastor Dwight McKissic said, “I say to those who disagree with our conviction about the nature of marriage that we stand where we stand respectfully, unapologetically, unequivocally and compassionately. Compassion does not require the compromise of convictions which are based on biblical truth. I welcome ongoing and respectful dialogue on this subject. We can agree to disagree without attacking each other’s character, intelligence, or theological standing.”

Pastor Francis Schaeffer said, “On a humanistic base, people drift along from generation to generation, and the morally unthinkable becomes thinkable as the years move on. By ‘humanistic base’, we mean the fundamental idea that men and women can begin from themselves and derive the standards by which to judge all matters. There are for such people no fixed standards of behavior, no standard that cannot be eroded or replaced by what seems necessary, expedient, or even fashionable.”

Our Theology on Homosexuality topic is titled “We Must Consult the Designer’s Manual” part 6 from “The Truth About Same-Sex Marriage: 6 Things You Need to Know About What’s Really at Stake” by pastor Erwin Lutzer. And, I want to remind you to take advantage of our special offer. If you appreciate this podcast and lecture series, please feel free to purchase a copy of this book — “The Truth About Same-Sex Marriage: 6 Things You Need to Know About What’s Really at Stake.” It is available on our website, TorchLeadershipFoundation.com, for just $20.

Dr. Erwin Lutzer goes on to say…

DESECRATING THE BODY

Same-sex marriages fall outside the boundaries of a one-man, one-woman relationship, and so are alien bonds, intruders that desecrate the body and pollute the soul. When humans try to use sex to embrace the spiritual part of themselves and ignore God’s design, they always come up short. Of necessity all alien bonds are cut off from God’s intentions and thus violate the original marriage charter. The spiritual dimension of the relationship is destroyed.

Although I don’t agree with everything M. Scott Peck has written, he perceptively notes in Further Along the Road Less Traveled, “Sex is the closest that many people ever come to spiritual experience. Indeed, it is because it is a spiritual experience of sorts that so many chase after it with a repetitive, desperate kind of abandon. Often, whether they know it or not, they are searching for God.” Yes, the pursuit of a sexual partner is at root, for the homosexual or heterosexual, a search for God. But sex, separated from God’s holy intention, is reduced to a biological experience that falls victim to the law of diminishing returns. Such relationships cannot represent the intimacy between Christ and the church, nor can they represent the real presence of God, but the presence of an alien, impure spirit. Alien bonds of whatever kind are the antithesis of holiness.

Individuals, whether homosexual or heterosexual, seldom have an abiding commitment to those with whom they have formed alien bonds. And because they have experienced intimacy outside the proper boundaries, they will have a tendency to forgo any process of courtship and almost immediately seek genital intimacy. Once the principle of a covenant relationship of one man and one woman has been violated, the temptation to continue the spiral will be persistent and powerful.

To affirm same-sex marriages is to take one more step to cut sex off from its God-blessed intention of mirroring plurality and unity. In short, to affirm same-sex marriages is to toss aside the Owner’s Manual, intent on finding our own way, at any cost. With it we add more brokenness to our brave new world of social experimentation.

The Bible gives several purposes for sex. One is to mirror unity in diversity; another is pleasure. But high on the list is that children might be born into an environment where they can grow and flourish as men and women. God intended that as a result of the loving union of the one-man, one-woman relationship, children would be born into an atmosphere of security, where both genders model teamwork and commitment.

It is to the children we now turn.

—PRAYER—

Now, if you are listening today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, allow me to show you how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now this is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Until next time, my friend, may God bless you and keep you!
